The Garfield G-Men dominated Campbell Memorial from start to finish on Friday, rolling to a 61-0 victory and a 6-0 start to the season.

The result has become a recurring theme for the G-Men since joining the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

The G-Men joined the league for the 2021 season and have gone 16-1 in league play in that time, including Friday’s win at JAG Field in Garrettsville.

In those league victories, Garfield has scored 50 or more points in half of the games (8) and 60 or more points in three games.

In fact, none of the team’s victories have come by less than 14 points, averaging nearly 33 points in differential in league wins.

On Friday, the G-Men went down the triumphant path quickly, scoring 55 first-half points to take control.

Three game-breaking plays opened the scoring for the G-Men, starting with Brandyn Bogucki’s 60-yard run, which was followed by Eric Geddes’ 41-yard jaunt. Then, it was the defense’s turn to help out, with Leo Grandizio recovering a fumble in the end zone for more points and a 21-0 lead going into the second quarter.

In the second, Geddes added another score (16-yard run), he found Deacon Sommer for a 36-yard scoring play, then Keegan Sell reached the end zone on a 45-yard run, Christian Gallagher pulled in a 5-yard pass from Geddes and Devin Bates closed the first-half scoring with an 18-yard run.

Bates added a 20-yard run in the third quarter for the only points put on the board by either team in the second half.

The G-Men finish their season with road games at Liberty (2-4) and Newton Falls (3-3) in Weeks 7 and 8, then they close out the year with back-to-back home games against Crestview (2-4) and Brookfield (3-3) in Weeks 9 and 10, respectively.
