The Aurora girls basketball team came alive in the second half to rally for an impressive 56-49 victory over host Kenston on Friday.
The Greenmen trailed the Bombers 27-11 at halftime, but rebounded to score 22 and 23 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
Sophomore Brook Manav led Aurora (1-0) in scoring with 22 points. She made seven field goals and was 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
Junior Sam Stask added 19 points, connecting on five field goals — four of which from 3-point range — and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Aurora’s 22-point third quarter brought the team back into the game, trailing 39-33 going into the fourth quarter. The Greenmen’s offensive effort continued and they turned the game to their favor, outscoring the Bombers (0-1) 23-10 in the final eight minutes.
