The Rootstown High School football team will host the Crestwood Red Devils on Friday, Aug. 23, to kickoff the 2024 season.

However, it won’t be the only time the Rovers and Red Devils meet on the gridiron this year.

Two weeks before the start of the high-school season, Rootstown welcomes Crestwood to Robert C. Dunn Field for an alumni football game as part of a fundraising event coordinated by the Rootstown Endzone Club.

The alumni game is scheduled for Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.

Both Crestwood and Rootstown will feature rosters filled with players of yesteryear, along with some additional players who now live or volunteer in community organizations.

The Rootstown End Zone Club raises funds, provides scholarships, pays for youth football player to attend Friday night games and serves the Rovers’ Thursday night team meals.

Each alumni team is selling presale tickets and tickets will also be available at the gate.
